Synopsis

In den Straßen der Stadt Besźel wird die Leiche einer ausländischen Schülerin entdeckt. Dies ist ein Fall für Inspector Tyador Borlú von der Extreme Crime Squad. Bei seinen Untersuchungen findet er heraus, dass das tote Mädchen aus einer anderen Stadt namens Ul Qoma gekommen war, mit der Besźel nicht die besten Beziehungen unterhält.
